We are an exclusive wholesaler of the high quality products brewed and distributed by Anheuser-Busch, Inc. like Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob, Michelob Light, Busch, Busch Light, Natural Light, Natural Ice, Michelob Specialties and many others. We also sell quality products from the Redhook Brewery and the Kirin Brewery through their respective partnership agreements with Anheuser-Busch. We service the loyal and terrific customers in the counties of Prince William, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline, and King George and the cities of Manassas, Manassas Park, and Fredericksburg located in Northern Virginia.
Constructed in 1988 and occupied in November of 1989, J. F. Fick, Inc. operates out of a 54,000 square foot facility. The site sits on a 6- acre tract located at 224 Industrial Court in Fredericksburg, Virginia, which is a part of Spotsylvania County. The building itself consists of office space totaling 9,000 square feet, a controlled environmental warehouse (CEW) totaling 26,250 square feet, the warehouse drive-thru area totaling 10,810 square feet, and a Draft Box within the CEW totaling 159 square feet. The controlled environmental warehouse is cooled year round to specific temperatures during different times in the year as required by Anheuser-Busch, Inc. to maintain product freshness and quality for our retail customers and the public. The CEW has a maximum capacity of holding 263,816 cases and 3,000 half barrels of beer. With the driver-thru area being 235 feet long, we are able to store our 16 delivery trucks/trailers inside over night.
J. F. Fick, Inc. currently employs approximately 75 people. In April of 1999, the sales department migrated from a route sell environment to a hybrid Presale/Peddle environment. We have 7 pre-salesmen who take orders, with handheld computers, from retail accounts in their assigned markets on a daily basis and transmit their orders into the company's computer system. The orders are then processed and loaded by the warehouse crew for the next day's delivery by driver salesmen who also have handheld computers and printers in their trucks. This process ensures that the delivery trucks come back to the warehouse at the end of each day virtually empty whereby diminishing breakage problems along with wear and tear of the cases. All sales personnel also carry wireless communication devices in case they need to be contacted during the day. During the year 2000, J. F. Fick, Inc. had sold 1,938,259 cases/kegs resulting in a 3.1% increase over 1999. As of June 30, 2001, out unit sales has increased by 3.5% and we expect to surpass 2,000,000 units for the year 2001.
The corporation runs four brewery tractor trailers to Anheuser-Busch's Williamsburg, Virginia and Newark, New Jersey breweries usually on a daily basis. During the high volume months, starting from March through December, these brewery drivers make the run to the Williamsburg brewery twice per day and sometimes on weekends.
J. F. Fick, Inc. maintains it's own Fleet Maintenance Department consisting of 5 people who perform regularly scheduled maintenance on the corporations' fleet of vehicles, delivery trucks and trailers, and brewery tractor-trailers to help reduce down time. They have the capacity to completely overhaul every part of each tractor and trailer the corporation owns. The Fleet Department also does its' own decaling of each trailer and washes all corporate vehicles to maintain a leadership appearance out in the market place.
