One hot morning in the summer of 1999, Mark Thompson found himself scraping paint off the windows of an abandoned brewery on Main Street in Charlottesville, Virginia. By September, the paint was gone, the brewery was restored, and Mark had launched Starr Hill. Brewing Company with the mission of bringing the gift of great beer to the world.

Starr Hill has become the most award-winning brewery on the East Coast and among the most celebrated in the country. Their four ‘house’ beers—Amber Ale, Pale Ale, Jomo Lager, and Dark Starr Stout—have won 12 medals in the six years they’ve been around.
